WTF Did You Do to Crash Bandicoot?!
What in the hell is this?! Look, I was always a fan of the Crash Bandicoot games in the days of Naughty Dog. The first Crash Bandicoot was my first taste of 3D gaming, back on the original PS-X. But this… no. This reminds me of when the WB tried to shovel those “new” Looney Tunes on us last year. You know, the ones where they tried to make Bugs Bunny all radical and badass by calling him “Buzz”. There are just certain things you don’t toy with, and the look of a one-time mascot is one of them.
Look at Mario. That fat [censored] hasn’t changed his look in over twenty years! Red shirt, blue Osh Kosh and the moustache. Sonic the Hedgehog is the same way — he hasn’t changed his appearance drastically… ever. The most they did with him was make his spikes look more defined — kind of like what TOHO did with Godzilla.
The only major Video Game character that has had a complete appearance overhaul was Lara Croft — and that was almost necessary because she’s a human being.
Just remember that most who try to re imagine classic video game characters tend to fall flat on their faces. Sega tried to change Vectorman’s appearance when he almost came to the next gen.
Obviously, that didn’t fare well.

I understand the thing about getting to appeal to kids, but that doesn’t even seem like the ‘cool’ Crash and crew that I would want to buy little toys of.
