Toys “R” Us takes massive damage, releases BioShock early
Ah! Chaos! Absolute chaos! Ah! The sky is falling! The sky is falling! *pant, pant*
Ok, ok. Let me explain. There seems to be a wee bit of a mix-up regarding the upcoming GOTY BioShock. You see, according to 2K Games, Gamestop, Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, and everyone else under the sun, BioShock isn’t supposed to be released for another week or so. Yet, there are people playing it right now!
Toys “R” Us seems to want to not play by the rules, and instead do their own thing. Now, it’s not every store — none of the stores in mid-Michigan are selling the game until the 21st. Which sucks. However, some stores (especially in Texas and Tennessee, as I’ve discovered) have already begun to sell BioShock. Talk about screwing up, huh? I mean, even the Toys “R” Us WEBSITE has BioShock listed as an August 21st release.
But wait, it gets better! Someone recorded a commercial for BioShock and posted it up on YouTube. Why do I mention this? Because this commercial has “Available Now” at the end.
See? Absolute madness.
Now of course, there are people selling their copies of BioShock on eBay right now. My, on my, whoever saw THAT coming? There are currently bids reaching well over $100. I’ll address you people later today.
So, if you were one of those lucky ones who DID get their hands on an early copy of BioShock, well… you suck. And I hate you.

Wow, that is quite a mix up with them releasing it early. I am totally with the people on eBay selling taking the opportunity for them to get whatever they can get, but I cannot believe buyers think it is worth it to pay at least twice the price when they could just wait a little longer and get it at retail price.

[...] BioShock. Halo 3. Now Guitar Hero III. Every big release goes through this problem, where one retailer doesn’t pull its head out its collective ass, and breaks a games street date simply because some nitwit in the back room sees a box with a game in it, and throws it on the shelves to keep them looking full.
