t3h w31rd: March 18th, 2007 (Big Ass Edition)
Ok, first thing first: There was no w31rd last week, and for that I do apologize — I had obligations that I had to fulfill. Namely, to my country. That being said, here is two weeks worth of the weirdest, wildest, and just plain dumbest stuff from the gaming world. I bring you “t3h w31rd.”
As always, t3h w31rd is inherently NSFW, so if you’re a young’n, read with your parents.
GorgeousGamers.com
Ok, I’m not sure if you know about this website or not, but GorgeousGamers.com is a website devoted to showcasing the sexiest gamers on the planet. In short — it’s a dating site that desperately tries to appeal to gamers. After perusing through the site for several hours over the past week, I can only come to one conclusion: People are liars.
Listen, this needs to be said: Just because you own a game console, doesn’t mean you’re a damn gamer. Ok? Does this register in your mind? Being a gamer is more than simply playing Halo or WoW (I, personally, believe that WoW players are the antithesis of everything gamers are), it’s almost a lifestyle. To not just play, but to know, and appreciate all the hard work and effort that goes into making the games that you and I enjoy. To be a gamer is not to play games, but to respect the industry and all it’s facets.
…with that said, Clover is fuckin’ smokin’!
Epic Games legal department lays the SMACK DOWN… on a doll
This was a pretty big story a week or so ago, but considering how absurd it is, it’s almost natural that it would eventually find it’s way here. Basically, it boils down like so: Guy has cousin who is a HUGE Gears of War fan. Guy makes doll of Gears of War character. Guy puts doll pics online. Epic’s lawyers find out. Epic’s lawyers go bananas. Hell, this guy went into such intricate detail with the doll that he even made a display box for it, as you can see below:
That’s pretty damn good, isn’t it? It’s really no wonder why the Epic legal department would get on this guy’s case. BUT, when the higher-ups at Epic learned that it was a single doll, created solely as a gift, was a one-of-a-kind, they immediately called off the attack dogs. They even sent out the obligatory “My Bad” e-mail, which read:
Ugh. Our lawyers are trying to do their job and protect our trademarks but I guess they didn’t realize this wasn’t a commercial project and they fired off a standard form letter. It is unfortunate when this happens but the problem with trademarks is you HAVE to protect them and Emilio’s work looks so amazingly professional, right down to a cool package!, that they probably failed to notice this was a one-off gift for non-commercial use. What we need to do is come up with some sort of permission letter for things like these so that we’re properly protecting our future commercial rights but not stopping people from doing cool fan art like this.
On behalf of Epic I apologize to Emilio and anyone who was offended by this.
I applaud Epic Games for biting the bullet, and accepting the fact that they let their lawyers go WAY too far with this. …did put me off on my idea for a Jazz Jackrabbit beer stein.
That’s a purdy picture
I love Amsterdam. Always have. Always will. Any place that can promise me legal pot and prostitutes willing to do my every whim is a lovely thought indeed. And probably the only place where I can finally play out my lifelong fantasy of seeing Wonder Woman and Princess Leia finally duke it out… ok, now I’m saying too much. Just look!
That is amazing, isn’t it? Check out these other kick ass pictures of this amazing mural:
Kinky WoW Shit
There is some poor, 24 year-old virgin in Minneapolis who is probably going to cry when he reads this, but it must be said: Whoever posted this Craig’s List ad is the saddest human being to ever live. The ad is basically him asking to be someone’s bitch.
will make a toon on any server you want. then you can make me do whatever you want, including pick my professions for me, make me give you my loot/gold, etc…
He’s looking for a Master/slave relationship… in a virtual world… with dwarves.
