No Crackdown Sequel, but new MMO from Devs Coming

Friday, September 7th, 2007

biznitch

Phil Wilson recently spoke on the real negative side that went into the productin of Crackdown, but was thankfully helped by the mighty Microsoft. Even talking about the Halo 3 Beta key that was included, he said, “It’s a shame we needed it, but we did. It was a great boost.” Though there are elements still they want to put in Crackdown such as making it easier for people to record and share those crazy videos they make of them doing random crap (if you are a Crackdown fan, you know exactly what Im talking about). The biggest news about Crackdown was, a confirmation of NO SEQUEL! At the fault may be Microsoft themselves, as he said, “Microsoft were a little late in stepping up to the plate to ask for Crackdown 2, and by then we had already started working on bigger, better things.”

Bigger and better things now include a MMO called APB (All Points Bulletin). Cops, robbers, and multiplayer. On top of this, there is an undisclosed project coming in 2008. Awesome work to developmag for being able to grab some pretty significant information.

2K Games sez… Your Brother Should Buy His Own Copy of BioShock

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

bioshocker.jpg

I have just lost a ton of respect for 2K Games. Now, it’s well known that there have been plenty of complaints regarding 2K Games and the secuROM system, which essentially limits how many times you can install a game. Some have been outraged by this (*cough*) while others don’t see the big deal. For the record, the big deal is this: I’ve installed Star Trek Voyger: Elite Force roughly a dozen times on my various machines. If secuROM was included with that game, I’d be boned x11. Now that you unnderstand why some people are so pissed about this, let’s move on.

Rare: NO Viva Pinata Downloads!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

vivapinata.jpg

Are you one of those Viva Pinata fanatics who just can’t get enough of those adorable, anthropomorphic animals filled with candies and joy? Well, I have some bad news for you: Rare won’t be making any downloadable content for you anytime soon… like, never.

Following the announcement of a new Viva Pinata for the Nintendo DS, a Rare developer felt the need to smash any hope that the announcement of a new Viva Pinata would bring downloadable content to the original game.

We aren’t doing any downloadable content for Viva Piñata because we are much too busy doing something else.

…”something else”… something else is good. Maybe an outright sequel? Maybe a possible sequel to Conker? …with our luck, it’ll be another “Grabbed By the Ghoulies”.

Guide to Getting a Friend into Call of Duty 4 Beta

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Im going in... just sign me in!
From what JW had confirmed and now I am reading from hahauk.com, it seems people are using the below method to get extra people in and selling beta’s on eBay. I think you know how we feel at The Rally about selling things early on eBay (if not, you are an idiot, don’t support this sort of crap!). Well a nice guide has been made for you to not go and become one of the retards who put bad things one eBay, this is a guide for you to get your friend into playing the Beta with you! Your only requirements is the GamerTag and Pass of the friend in question and a second controller, easy enough so far:

  • 1. Plug in 2 Controllers.
  • 2. Sign Controller 1 into the shared account (the one with the Beta)
  • 3. Leave Controller 2 signed out
  • 4. With Controller 1, go to ‘Account Management’ under the Marketplace Blade then ‘Download History’
  • 5. With Controller 2, press the Guide Button then A to access profiles
  • 6. With Controller 1, select YOUR account and sign in
  • 7. Press B on Controller 2 (to exit the guide) then unplug Controller 2
  • 8. Select the COD4 Beta onscreen, then press ‘Confirm Download’
  • 9. The Beta will now download with YOUR account and once done, will work with your account
  • At the time of me typing this, I hope this still works out for you! Just remember you are doing this at your own risk

Assassin’s Creed Rated T for Teen?

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

So, I took my daily trek over to the Assassin’s Creed website, and I noticed something that I hadn’t seen before. The “Not Rated” logo has been replaced with a “T for Teen”. Don’t believe me?

assassinscreed.jpg

Now, when you go to the ESRB website, Assassin’s Creed isn’t listed on the site. Yet. If it shows up on the site, I’ll let you all know. But for now, it looks as though Assassin’s Creed will NOT be solely for the mature audience.

Family Guy coming to Video Marketplace

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

stewie.jpgMicrosoft and Fox have signed an agreement today that will bring Fox programming to the Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace. First up? Family Guy!

Family Guy will be the first of what will surely be many shows from Fox (24, House, etc.) that will find a new home on the Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace. Considering what’s been popular in the Video Marketplace, the program decision seems obvious.

The first two seasons, as well as “Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story” will be available for download sometime next week, with the other seasons following soon after. New episodes will be added to the Video Marketplace the day after they premeire.

Freaking sweet.

UPDATO MAGNIFICO:
160 MS ($2) Points per episode? Considering each Family Guy DVD collection runs roughly $50 ($1.75 per episode), it’s not that big of a price increase. However, if you go to Amazon.com, you can get these DVD sets for $35, meaning each episode would cost you between $0.60 - $1.25 an episode.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 to get patched

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

tigerwoods.jpg

If you are one of the many people who have purchased the newest entry in the Tiger Woods PGA franchise, you may already have experienced the bug that locks your game up. It’s on the “Henriette Brockway” event in the Tiger Challenge, where the game will lock up while loading the third hole.

EA has sent the patch to Microsoft for certification, but if you can’t wait for Microsoft to approve the patch, EA has posted a run-around to get past the bug. When launching the game from the dashboard, hold down the A button. That should allow you to bypass the bug in the Tiger Challenge event.

Levine hints at possible BioShock sequel

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

bioshocknew.jpg

In an interview with Next-Gen, Ken Levine hinted at the possibility of there being a BioShock sequel. When asked by Next-Gen whether or not there would be continuing stories in the Raptureniverse, Levine broke the question down into three seperate questions.

  • “Am I interested in continuing to work in the world?” to which Levine answered himself “Yes, I am.”
  • The second question related to whether or not there is a popular demand for more stories in the game’s universe — countless perfect review scores and astronomical sales figures answer that question.
  • The third qestion asks whether or not the story is complete. Levine stated “I think that’s the question we have to ask now.”
  • I, for one, see there being at least one BioShock sequel. The sales numbers alone will probably be enough for Take-Two to demand such a sequel. I just hope they let Levine and his team continue to work on it.

Before making this post I was attempting to go through the slow ass process, well, I guess I made it!! (A chance that is!!!):

Your name will now be entered into a random drawing for Tokens into the Xbox 360 Multiplayer Beta. At 7pm PDT tomorrow, Tuesday August 28th, we will be drawing names for entry into the Beta. Halo Wars - First Video Released! 10 Minutes of What is to Come

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Not only is HaloWars.com hooking us up with a nice 10 minute long video showing many aspects of the game, but we get commentary on it all as well. I am not an RTS man, nothing against them, just never really tried them out, so as we wait on official word if a demo is really going to come out for this, I think here is the best we are going to get as far as getting a taste of this title. Want just a little more, make sure to check out the 45 second clip that was posted just yesterday.

Keep an eye on Gamersyde for a 720p version of this video if your computer can handle the HD.

Spore Coming to Xbox 360!

Monday, August 27th, 2007

kiss meSpore, the game that takes playing God like in the Sims to a whole new level, the game that has been hyped up so much that even , was set to only be a PC and Nintendo DS release, has now altered those plans. Being in development since 2000, the title will allow you to literally create a species from the very start, mate, grow, populate land, and eventually you will get to full civilizations, all at the same time having the world you create interact with everyone else’s creations worldwide. It is pretty deep. Not wanting to leave out millions of non-pc gamers from experiencing this very original title, it was just announced at the Leipzig game conference that the title will indeed hit consoles, the bad news about it though, is it won’t be at the same launch time as the PC/DS versions. But hey, some Spore is better than no Spore.

Ace Combat 6 Online Modes Revealed

Friday, August 24th, 2007

acecombat6.jpg

I haven’t played a single Ace Combat game since the original AIR Combat on the PS-X back in ‘95. So in short, my knowledge of the franchise is very limited. However, Namco Bandai today revealed four different online modes for their upcoming Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation.

  • Battle Royale: Basically, “Battle Royale” (with cheese) mode is a giant all-on-all battle to the death. Up to sixteen pilots will be able to blow each other out of the sky as each vies for the high score.
  • Team Battle: Two teams of eight face off in an epic squadron-based air battle to determine who is truly the “roxxorz”.
  • Seige Battle: Two teams of four alternate between offense and defense, as one team attacks a particular target, and the other defends said target.
  • Co-Op: Four-player co-op will allow you and three of your friends to team up to complete whatever the mission may be.
  • If you’re a long time fan of the franchise, this is sure to make you a very happy guy. If you’re not… well, then you probably just sit here, referencing Gordon Lightfoot in photoshopped screenshots.
