Black 360 due in “Late April”
For the past several weeks, rumors have been abound that there is going to be a new Xbox 360, code-named “Zephyr.” This new 360 would be black, and include HDMI. Well, good news — it’s not a rumor anymore.
Game Informer has the exclusive on the new, black Xbox 360 that, according to GI, will be coming in “Late April.” The basics boil down like so:
~120GB Hard Drive
~HDMI Port (w/ cable, smartasses)
~$479 Price Tag
It should be noted that the new 360 will NOT support HD-DVD. Microsoft claims it to be due to the fact that it’s an unproven format, but let’s be honest — Blu-Ray is whooping HD-DVD’s ass. It’s the one area where Sony is actually beating Microsoft. Regardless, I can also see why Microsoft wouldn’t include the HD-DVD from a price standpoint — $479 is a hefty chunk of change as it is. Throw in HD-DVD, and you have a slightly-underpowered PS3 on your hands.
On a personal note… Microsoft… as someone who bought an Xbox 360 when they first launched in the US… screw you. Go to hell. And screw you.

Like I said on 1pstart, electronics improve every year. I’m not going to get mad when a new iPod comes out, because it’s the electronics industry. I’m just hoping a new HD comes out so all I have to do is add it to my current Xbox.

I would assume the 120 gig drive will be used for downloading movies (that you keep) and the IPTV service. Until then the 20 gig drive seems like plenty of room for me.
As far as HDMI, my 360 hooked up through VGA to my 720p HD looks good to me. Until 1080p is more mainstream I don’t see the benefit is buying a 1080p tv or the 360v2.
