LucasArts unveils next-gen Star Wars. Finally.
Game Informer, you glorious fools! In the new issue of GI, LucasArts lets loose the first details of their next-gen Star Wars title, called “Star Wars: Force Unleashed.”
SWFU will be set in the cloudy time period between Episode III and Episode IV, and you will play the role of an apprentice to the galaxies most bad ass Raiders fan, Darth Vader. As his apprentice, you will delve into the depths of the Dark Side of the Force, mastering it’s powers as you work towards the ultimate goal of assassinating the Emperor, thus allowing you to become the #2 man in the galaxy behind Anakin.
What excites me on a personal level is the incorporation of the “Euphoria” physics engine. Euphoria calculates, in real time, all actions taken in the game world; metals will bend according to how they’re struck, wood will splinter or break cleanly, and overall the world will react more lifelike with your character than in any other game up to this point. Ironic, considering it’s Star Wars.
Regardless of what happens storywise in the game (outside of a hint at a fight with Shaak Ti, nothing is really known), we all know how it’s going to end — badly for you. Regardless, we’ve all been wanting a Star Wars game on the 360, and it seems we’re getting one. So rejoice!
…unless you’re a Wii owner. Oooh, burn!
