Fall Dashboard Update List Leaked?
Those Xbox message boards are always a cornucopia of information that Microsoft really doesn’t want us to know. That seems to be the case again, as Xbox.com forum goer by the name of “Post Up” has posted what appears to be the list for what we can expect in this fall’s Dashboard Update…
…which you can read after the break. Ha ha.

UPDATO MAGNIFICO:
No, I don’t know why I call updates that. Anyways, thanks to a user over at Digg named “chaosdude78″, here are a few shots of the Clan Blade mentioned in that above list. (from XboxLife.dk)
Also, to the four of you who’ve written me saying “zomg teh list iz rong!!1! m$ doesnt spell ‘favorite’ with a u!!!!”… it’s British, stupid. Oh, and we’re giving away Sonic the Hedgehog to cool people, so enter the contest.

I am going to call BS just because of the Xvid support. If I am wrong, that’s ok. I’ll be very happy if they were to actually add Xvid support (but it will never happen).

Still no 16:10 support (Microsoft: I would be just as happy if it was just black bars occupying the other 120 pixels to stop the monitor from up-scaling it)

I wish they would add a browser cuz sometimes i dont feel like getting up and just want to browse the web from my xbox.

“IPTV Functionality - support for TiVo like PVR options. Will be able to record TV direct. Options include source by channel, director, actor and distributor”
That’s going to be hard without a video input or a tuner of some sort.

I think this is fact mixed with fanboy fiction. Clan blade, Arcade blade, screensaver stuff - yeah that’s all believable but Xvid support?? TiVo support?? Picture in picture for DVD player?? Starting to sound like that guys wet dream rather than a legit update.

To all those saying that the IPTV is not possible, first of all, MS already announced this months ago. Second of all, the TV data comes over IP. IOW, you need a fiber connection to use it.
You can read about it here: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2007/jan07/01-08IPTVXboxPR.mspx
Or you can search for demo videos too if you like.

IPTV functions will require AT&T Uverse, the Xbox360 has already been approved for use, but the software has not hit. Tuners are not needed, as the system will integrate a software tuner, getting a feed from the Ethernet connection. DVR will be supported by the already announced WholeHouse DVR from Uverse. As far as the transport tech, they use FTTN, so customers can keep existing wiring.

It’s possible a September 25th dashboard update might include the Clan Support menu that is XBOX Live wide. This would also include the plug in support that Halo 3 would need for clans. To all the IPTV naysayers:
An original Xbox can do this to an extent with XBMC and python scripts that dl RSS. That is how I watch dl.tv and how I see movie trailers, since I skip all the commercials on TV with DVRs and eztv / ted. Unfamilar with my lingo? Google is your friend…

This list is 100% false, it is just some fanboys wish list - nothing on the list appears on the official list for the update. And yes i have the list and no i am not going to tell you what is on it.
Oh and the pictures are from GDC or some xbox 360 training from 18mo ago IIRC - the ‘clan’ features are just part of the herd game used to show off what can be done by devleopers if they choose to integrate into the game blade (like halo does).

[…] Sony are busy spamming their customers with updates to give them a false sense of added value, and Microsoft are preparing their bi-annual (hopefully mammoth) update. Now I hate rumours as much as the next geek but my recent desire to shank GPNZ folk in the neck has left me wondering about formal clan support on Xbox Live. The good news is that the rumour mill is now churning up pics for the fall update that are promising clan support (at least in Cattle Battle). This would be a great addition to facilitate those clan matches and clan organisation, with out a formal system in place it all feels a little hollow. So I’ve got my fingers crossed in the hopes that we will be getting this feature along with other tasty updates. Link to Sauce […]

(Slide 36 onwards)
It was just a demonstration of how a developer could add their own clan support and customise it for the game.
As for the list, it’s still totally false. Look at the second item - that accessory has worked with the console for MONTHS already.

This list was released back in september and it was debunked then. Microsoft already came out and said no IPTV till 2008-9 and Kevin Hell said Microsoft are dragging their feet on DivX support so the likelihood of that happening is low. Add to that things like the lack of the Family Timer which has been officially confirmed as a Fall Update and the screenshots that have been rumbled as Photoshop fakes and this news story is nothing more than pulp. Where’s the real list?!?!?!
