Double Dragon, Wing Commander Coming to the XBLA
The ESRB has a tendency to announce games before they are supposed to be public knowledge. When they updated their ratings for the Xbox 360, two titles immediately popped out: Double Dragon, and Wing Commander, although it was renamed “Wing Commander Arena.” Don’t believe me? Look for yourself. Double Dragon, which is being ported by Empire Interactive, is rumored to be getting a graphical polish before it’s release, much like games like Contra and Time Pilot has received. (For the record, both games have “Enhanced” and “Original” options for the game’s graphics)
As for Wing Commander Arena, we know almost nothing. Other than the fact that it’s going to be released by Electronic Arts. And that it’s Wing Commander, which is really reason enough to get excited, when you think about it.
You know, publishers need to sit down with the ESRB and say “Listen, we don’t want you putting our games on your list until we ANNOUNCE THEM!” This just makes the publishers look bad, in my eye.
It should also be noted that Switchball, Earth Defense Force 2017, and Carcassonne were also on that list, although those are obviously not the games anyone cares about right now.
