ECC Issues Deadline to Microsoft: Explain Disc Scratching or ELSE!
Remember back when the 360 launched? Before the big issue of the Xbox 360’s reliability was in question, the big deal was with the issue of the Xbox 360 scratching your CDs. This was one of the many accusations going around regarding the 360 post-launch, and in Holland, it’s apparently still an issue.
Dutch TV show “Kassa” recently began an investigation into the issue over in Holland. This investigation spawned the ECC (European Commission for Consumers) to issue a notice to Microsoft that demands an explanation from the computer giant regarding why some users are having their discs severely scratched by the home console.
On a personal level, I have never had this problem, and I know for a fact that it is in the Xbox 360 Warranty that if you turn the console from horizontal to vertical while in use, you can experience damage to your discs similar to this. Oh, the act of turning your console from vertical to horizontal also voids the warranty. For the record.
It’ll be interesting if Microsoft issues a statement regarding this issue. I don’t see it happening, myself. It states what causes this kind of scratching in the warranty, and I know of no instance where this just happened to a game disc. As I see it, Microsoft is in the clear on this.
