Viva Pinata: $28 on Amazon!

Friday, May 25th, 2007

vp-mini.jpg

I know it’s hard to read that little picture up there, but I assure you it’s authentic. If you go to Amazon.com right now, you can pick up one of the Xbox 360’s gems, Viva Pinata, for a mere $27.82. Oh yeah, free shipping, too. Now, if you don’t believe me, and you think both THIS link, as well as the link at the bottom (both of which go to the same Amazon page) are false, I present this screen capture from my own computer!

…yes, I use a Super Mario Brothers Firefox theme. Don’t judge me.

Next Gears Update to have new Achievements

Friday, May 25th, 2007

gears_of_war_i-org_3.jpg

Mark Rein has announced via the Epic Games message boards that the next Gears of War update will include new achievements (if you own the Annex and Hidden Fronts DLC), as well as all the typical bug-fixing, etc. Rein said, and I quote:

Folks,

The next Gears of War update is coming along nicely. We don’t have a release timeframe for it yet but I just wanted to let you know we’re making significant progress. In addition to the previously mentioned plan to improve roadie run we’re also going to have new achievements relating to Annex and the Hidden Fronts DLC. Of course no title update would be complete without more exploit squashing and the ever-popular “general housekeeping”.

forza.jpg

That’s all I have to say, people. This Tuesday, May 29th, we’ll finally get our hands on the sequel to what was arguably the best racer on the original Xbox in Forza 2. Considering all the hype Forza 2 has been getting from esteemed publications (and us), we may see North America screech to a halt on May 29th.

Read the full Press Release post-break, as always.

starwarscomplete.jpg

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a glorious day. Today, on the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars, we get word from LucasArts and Traveler’s Tales that they are, indeed, working on “LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga”. Now, the game is basically the two LEGO Star Wars games in one easy, convenient package. BUT, if you, like me, already own the two previous LEGO Star Wars titles, there is still incentive to pick this one up. That incentive?

Online Play.

Yes, boys and girls, we’ll finally be able to get on Xbox Live (or the PS3 Online) and play with one another. You can read the full details (aka “Press Release”) after the break.

Vietnamese “movie” star play Xbox 360 in feature

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

I am guessing enlarging this image is most likely NSFW, nothing really bad though. Just the 360 getting a nice advert.

Exit, a “PSP hit” (oxymoron?) coming to XBLA

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

exit.jpg

First revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu is an Xbox Live Arcade version of Exit, Taito’s side-scrolling puzzle/platform game that had PSP fans talking last year.

Similar to the PSP version, you take control of sly Mr. ESC in an attempt to help people escape from danger. Once saved, people lend various forms of assistance as you attempt to save others and clear the stage. Taito is adding new stages exclusively for Xbox 360 owners.

I don’t know, I am just not into these retro style type play games (ie Atari retro). But, I guess as long as they are cheap enough for people to get ‘em, whatever tickles your pickle.

Ubisoft is on the highway to hell

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Yeah, I’m sure every damn video game site has used that piss-poor pun. Well, it’s my turn, dammit! …just watch the video.

This is the new trailer to the upcoming Brother in Arms sequel, “Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway”. Now, I’m sick and tired of the WWII FPS, but after watching this trailer, I have to admit… I’m a bit excited about this one. It honestly looks good. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

“EndWar” Fully Voice Controlled

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

endwar.jpg

It is no secret that the Real-Time Strategy game has always had a hard time coming to consoles. The nature of the gameplay itself makes the game play a most difficult item to translate to the confines of a console controller. Even now, games like Command & Conquer 3, and the Lord of the Rings games haven’t gotten it quite right.

So, how does a developer get around this minor road block? Well, according to Ubisoft, you make the whole damn game voice-controlled. Sounds cool, huh? Well, remember that most games that have tried this in the past have had, how shall I say, “less than successful” implementation. After all, every human being’s voice has a different depth, pitch and carry. Thankfully, Ubisoft is covering their own butts by also allowing a classic control scheme as well.

Another little detail we have heard about involves the camera system — according to Ubisoft, we’ll be able to zoom in so far down into the action that the camera will actually switch into an over-the-shoulder camera in the style of Resident Evil 4.

…and that’s about all they have said about EndWar. When more details come to the light, I will share them with you all. But until then, salivate on this.

Guitar Hero 3 Details Emerge

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

ActualGibsonLesPaulClassic.jpg
Over at Next Gen Biz found this little bit of info:

Set for release on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, the game will feature Gibson’s Les Paul (”real life” LP pictured) and Kramer guitar models, gameplay additions such as a new multiplayer battle mode and boss battles, exclusive unlockable content and authentic rock venues.

Guitar Hero III will also include more master recordings than previous iterations and a greater number of original recordings. The initial tracks announced include Paint it Black by The Rolling Stones, Cherub Rock by Smashing Pumpkins and Sabotage by Beastie Boys.

Then went quickly digging to get the rest of the scoop found a nice full list of which artists will have the actual versions of their songs from Joystiq
# “Paint It Black” (by The Rolling Stones)
# “Cherub Rock” (by Smashing Pumpkins)
# “Sabotage” (by Beastie Boys)
# “The Metal” (by Tenacious D)
# “My Name is Jonas” (by Weezer)
# “Knights of Cydonia” (by Muse)
# “Rock And Roll All Nite” (as made famous by Kiss)
# “School’s Out” (as made famous by Alice Cooper)
# “Slow Ride” (as made famous by Foghat)
# “Cult of Personality” (by Living Colour)
# “Barracuda” (as made famous by Heart)

And lastly “they’re making wireless guitars “available” for all platforms; no word on whether they’ll be the default axes, or optional peripherals.”

Assassin’s Creed: The Greatest Video Ever

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

asstop.jpg

I thought well of this game of course. But now, someone put a direct feed from a “Ubi Days” show video, great quality, and threw DJ Shadow as background music, he is the man (He went under the moniker of UNKLE for the song used in the video). I now may seem biased in calling this the greatest video ever now.

Anyways, the video is actually too large to embed on the front page, so click down to see the clip! (more…)
